How to Become a Successful and working Dive Instructor Post COVID-19

How to Become a Successful & working Dive Instructor Post COVID-19

The last few years have not been easy for many dive professionals, but we are an adaptive bunch. Now that glimmer of light at the end of that tunnel is starting to burn bright once more.

Meaning your favourite dive centers will start to go back to their pre-Covid numbers and they will need “GOOD”, enthusiastic, motivated and knowledgeable scuba instructors once more.

We feel very lucky at The Waterhoppers as we had guests and dived daily, even over the last two years. In 2021 we were able to teach 300+ students, guide 800+ fun divers and introduce many people to underwater world as try divers our snorkellers.

So what does it mean to be an enthusiastic, motivated and knowledgeable scuba instructor? Isn’t that what the Instructor Development Course (IDC) is for? In part, yes. PADI IDC’s show you how to become exactly that, but the secret ingredient is you!

Scuba diving has come a long way over the last 50 years or so and the business of diving has changed, accelerated by covid. New instructors can take advantage of these changes and the opportunity here.

· E-Learning: The pandemic has proven that digital learning is more than just a business tool, it’s now become an effective teaching tool. More than ever, being fluent in the use of digital teaching has become the standard.

· Environment: Becoming an ambassador for the underwater environment has become the standard.

· Engagement (community building): Understanding and using the power of social media to spread your message, promote and educate.

· Excitement (social sharing your passion): As the effects of the recent events start to ease, strong dive centers and passionate dive instructors will succeed in teaming up to offer divers the freedom and adventure they are seeking (missing).

But success is more than just certifying divers in exchange for a paycheck, you want to become a SCUBA entrepreneur! Where you have the skills, experiences (the time spent using these skills, in and out of the water) to be a “GOOD” instructor and The Waterhoppers dive school is a great place to get that experience.

If you want to be “GOOD” when not join us this April on our IDC, https://www.waterhoppers.com/programmes/padi-courses/instructor-development-course
